Tassie's Top Tracks: Our Family's Favourite Wilderness Wanderings.

Tassie's Top Tracks: Our Family's Favourite Wilderness Wanderings.

We spent six months exploring Tassie in a Caravan. Here's our top five walks.

Three Falls Circuit, Mount Field: We spent over a week exploring this absolute gem! The waterfalls are truly spectacular and the tracks are properly enjoyable. Mount Field isn't just another national park—it's essential if you're keen on bushwalking and connecting with Tassie's wilderness. There's something magical about the ancient forests here.

Lake Esperance Walk, Hartz Mountain: Hartz is a formidable mountain that gives you that wonderful feeling of isolation. Plenty of brilliant walks to choose from, but remember to pack for all conditions—the weather changes in a heartbeat up there! One minute sunshine, next you're wrapped in cloud and mist.

Mount Amos (Wineglass Bay): We tackled this one when little Maple was just four—watching her navigate this challenging track was incredibly inspiring. Amos is essentially a continuous rock scramble, but those views of Wineglass Bay at the summit are absolutely worth every effort. Local tip: head to Granite in Freycinet afterwards for a pizza. It's genuinely the best on the East Coast!

Duck Reach Track, Launceston: Duck Reach is a world-class walk right in the heart of Launnie. It's perfect for the whole family and offers stunning views throughout. A true hidden treasure that even some locals haven't fully appreciated yet.

Marion's Lookout, Cradle Mountain: How much time do you have? Cradle has so many incredible tracks that we're still discovering new loops and lookouts with each visit. It's the crown jewel of Tassie hiking for good reason—wild, rugged and breathtaking in any season.
